Dogs at Bars

Positively Kristen

If I had a dog with me in Tampa I would be the happiest person ever, but I wouldn’t want to take him to bars with me because then everyone would flock around him and want to pet him. I am confident in saying this because I am that crazy girl swooning over other people’s dogs at the bar.

Shout out to all those people that don’t mind the attention their dogs bring because seeing dogs while I’m out at a bar is probably the best thing ever, drunk or sober.

The whole “bring your dog to the bar” trend is popular on Sundays, especially on Soho in Tampa. If I could, I would probably play with other people’s dogs all day. We don’t deserve dogs. They have the ability to love anyone unconditionally and all they want are belly rubs and sweet talk in return.

There is nothing better than…

Ok, so this might seem like a strange topic because I have been drowning in school work lately and dreading every second of it. However, despite all the stress it brings me, I am thankful for the opportunity to go to college and further my education.

The past four years at UT have gone by in the blink of an eye. Everyone always told me that it would, but I was naive and didn’t believe them. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions from hating my classes and switching my major to absolutely loving my classes and not wanting them to end. (Though I could do without all the work.) Graduating in May is bittersweet, but I am confident in the adult that I have grown to be from my experiences throughout college.

I am thankful for the wide range of classes I have taken as a communications major because it…

Salsa Rico

Positively Kristen

We have a bunch of places to eat on campus, but without a doubt my favorite place is Salsa Rico. It’s been here since I was a freshman and has been the highlight of many days.

I have lived off campus for three years now, which usually means you cancel your meal plan and grocery shop. I just couldn’t let go of Salsa Rico though. So yes, I kept my meal plan all three years to be able to eat Salsa Rico almost every day. Sometimes I even have it twice in day.

Salsa Rico is pretty much like a crappier version of Chipotle, but for some reason I LOVE it. My go to is a chicken burrito bowl, but if I’m feeling really crazy I’ll go all out and get a burrito. However, that’s rare.

When I graduate, I can honestly say I am going to miss Salsa Rico…

I don’t brunch often, but when I do I brunch hard.

I am using brunch as a verb because just going to brunch doesn’t really emphasize how fun it is. This past Sunday, a few of my friends and I went to brunch at Ava on Soho. Bottomless mimosas and an amazing BLT. What could be better? But we didn’t stop there. Drinks were flowing and we decided to head to the bars for a little. I am going to include that part in my brunch experience because drinking is basically the main theme of brunching.

It was funny to see everyone with their squads brunching at different restaurants along soho, but still all meeting up at the bars after. I definitely want to start going to brunch more because now’s the time to do it, right? It was a really fun time, in great weather, with good friends. Definitely a…

Ducks have always been one of my favorite animals. When I was young, all my stuffed animals were cute, soft, yellow ducks of all sizes.

617hbbqjVTL._SL1500_I don’t really know what it is I like about them to be honest, but as I grow up, everytime I see one I smile. Now this doesn’t just mean I enjoy seeing only little ducklings (although, I think we can all agree that ducklings are cute). My favorite type of ducks are actually adult mallard ducks. The males have a beautiful green head and the females have a body filled with shades of brown. I think mallards are my favorite because my parents used to have these painted wooden ones in our house which I found amazing because it combined my two favorite things, woodworking and ducks.

When I was in middle school, we had a little family of ducks living on the school grounds…

Though I’m often scared of what technology will be like in the future, I am thankful for the advances we have had up to this point. Facetiming, or video chatting in general, is so useful, especially being far from home and being in a long distance relationship.

Of course it isn’t the same as seeing someone in person, but it’s as close to it as I can get. I use Facetime to talk to my boyfriend every day which makes having a long distance relationship just a little easier. I can’t imagine being in a long distance relationship back in the day before this technology where you had no interactions with your significant other besides writing letters. Props to those people because I don’t think I would be able to do it.

I also use Facetime to see my dog when I talk to my parents. It’s so cute to…

Opening the door to the Sun

Positively Kristen

Living in Florida, I know that 9 out of 10 times, it’ll be hot out. However, that doesn’t always mean it is a sunny, beautiful day. (Though most of the time it is because Florida is awesome.)

Every morning, I get dressed for warm weather, hoping that my outfit will be appropriate. I know it would be so much smarter of me to just check the weather app every morning or look out a window, but I’m too lazy to do that. So I get ready, and open our front door to whatever weather may be waiting for me.

The best feeling is opening that door and seeing a bright, blue sky. The sun hits and I instantly warm up and smile. It’s the best feeling, like an instant boost of sunshine through my body.
